Other equipment, things like turbos, superchargers, intake and exhaust bits and pieces, are not permanent and can be selected or deselected as many times as you want. Every setting for this car will have them. Things like weight reduction, engine steps, chassis reinforcement, etc. Why? Because some tuning bits are permanent and some aren’t. The default and the 500 PP setting, right? If you look at the default, Setting C, you’ll only see some of the additional equipment you added. Rename that to ‘500 PP’ or whatever it happens to be.Īt this point, you’ve got two settings. Once it’s just the way you want it, head back to the garage, select the Settings page and choose either A or B, whichever one you chose first. Then go back and tune that equipment as you see fit. Head over to the tuning garage and add whatever equipment you feel is necessary. Once you’ve done that, go back and select setting A or B, it doesn’t matter. Delete the words that are there and then type in ‘Original’ or ‘Default’, whatever you want but make sure you signify that this is the settings as they are now. Go to the right, the C setting, and then scroll to the far left and choose ‘Edit Comment’. You’ll see three default settings, all the same. Next, before you do anything else, go back to your garage and go into the tuning settings page. Once you do this, the car is back to the way it left the factory and has the same or more horsepower than it did when you got it, even if it’s a brand new car. The first thing to do is change the oil or, if the car has more than 300 miles on it, rebuild the engine and the chassis. The routine starts when you get a new car, either new to you or totally brand new. Here’s how you can tune a car three different ways and change from one setting to the next almost instantly. Adding the equipment, sorting out the suspension settings, the tranny settings all of that takes time. Since most of the models available in Gran Turismo 5 were hidden in the used car section, it is a good step forward to see the cars no longer separated into standard and premium categories. You guys already know how much time it can take to set up a car. Instead of you playing Russian Roulette with the used car section to find that one car, all vehicles have been made available under their manufacturer. The used car lot is back once again, only this time it is not the mundane chaos it was in Gran Turismo 5. While it is fascinating to have the option of buying older classic modeled cars (and Gran Turismo 6 has plenty), there are certain models carried over from previous entries that probably need to be left in the garage-or put on the used car lot. It’s not that they look bad, just an obvious sore thumb when compared to some of the other more beautiful models. Unfortunately, the biggest offender of the graphics are the older model cars. Of course, having older favorites appear is a pleasant surprise, but adding to it such famous tracks for the Silverstone Circuit, Goodwood Hillclimb, and Willow Springs International Raceway, only helps continue the immersive experience you get from Gran Turismo 6. The visuals continue to impress as you look at the gorgeous tracks Polyphony Digital has created. Because of this, I, like many others, will not be able to contain my excitement for what the recently announced Gran Turismo 7 will bring visually. For the most part, it is astounding that these graphics are on the PlayStation 3. For example, during your replay after the race, you will see some truly outstanding textures and lighting effects. It’s really no surprise honestly, as this is one area in which Polyphony Digital has always been able to excel. In Gran Turismo 6 the graphics look wonderful. Can the amount of extra work synonymous with Gran Turismoreally survive in this day and age? However, times have changed - not only the mentality of gaming, but gamers as a whole. It was just what you came to expect, and for the most part, it was what you wanted in a racing simulator. The precision it takes to achieve gold on your license tests. The hours spent gaining access to certain cars. Part of the magic of Gran Turismo has always been the work you have to put into it. Gran Turismo changed my mind completely, and changed my gaming habits forever. After all, they usually just meant poor graphics, awful sound design, and meaningless accomplishments. We thought they were some of the biggest wastes of time. We spent hours playing it, despite the fact that we both hated racing games. I was at a friend’s house and he had just received the PSOne as a gift and Gran Turismo was one of the games he got (the other was Final Fantasy VII, but that’s a whole different story). I remember the first time I played Gran Turismo on the PSOne.
