Now the default is Auto, and Auto is identical to Individual everywhere except in Media Storage, so the default has flipped. You had to turn on 'individual frames' if that's what you wanted. Free download provided for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. In 17.3.2 and before, the default was to import image sequences when you drag to media pool. Video Edit Magic download: For beginners, a pretty extensive video editing application. What I think will be a problem for some users is that the default behaviour has now changed. So why can't it do that too for PNG, JPG and TIFF? If any user found it was wrong more than it was right for them, they could just go to Individual or Sequence mode. APPENDIX B EQUATIONS OF MOTION IN CYLINDRICAL COORDINATES /798. If you're in Auto mode and you import only a couple of EXRs, it correctly guesses they must be individual files. That Auto logic in Media Storage could easily apply to any drag to Media Pool, and I can't really see why the detection logic needs to be so basic. I'd say it's a missed opportunity though. I wouldn't exactly call it a step backwards, because if you forget the Auto option, it's basically exactly the same as it was in 17.3.2 - if you don't use Media Storage to import (which personally I literally never have), you need to toggle the option between Individual/Sequence if you regularly import both image sequences and individual files (with numbers at the end of the filename). And what logic there is isn't used anywhere but the Media Storage pane. We also champion sustainability Our servers run on 100 Renewable Energy, so there’s no need to worry about environmental. Pre 17.4 you had the "Import Individual Frames" (or some similar name) option in the same three-dot menu in Media Storage. But that was the same in 17.3.2 and before, as well. SimplSam wrote:So when I am on the Edit page and wish to import sequence or individual (and its in the wrong mode) - I now need to switch to Media, change mode, then back to Edit to do the correct import?Ĭorrect. TIFF, PNG and JPG are not, even when there's 100+ sequentially named files. EXR and DPX are correctly detected as sequences ![]() So far I've found that, in Media Storage in Auto mode: Those are always detected as individual files when in Auto mode, even in the Media Storage pane. Now the same behaviour occurs both in Media Storage and any manual drag and drop import to Media Pool.Īlso, as Shrinivas intimated, the Auto logic does not apply for TIFF nor does it work for JPG or PNG. When dragging direct to the Media Pool, it seems that 'Auto' is the same as 'Individual'.ĮDIT: This was fixed in 17.4.1. However, importing to the Media Pool from Finder/Explorer apparently does not use the same Auto logic. It correctly identifies my Test00000000.exr - Test00000300.exr sequence as a sequence, in Auto mode:Īnd if I then drag that sequence from Media Storage to the Media Pool, it imports as a sequence in Auto mode.
